Home Study Update

We sent off our application and fee yesterday to Nathanson Adoption Services for our "pre-placement assessment" - AKA, home study. There will be a social worker assigned to us and Mike and I will meet twice with her outside of our home and once with her at our home. Her job is to make sure our home is a loving, safe environment for an adopted child (hope so ... because otherwise the four we already have are in trouble!!). I don't know how long it will take to actually get started with the home study, but once we do get started, it's about an 8-12 week process from start to finish.

I did call AAI yesterday to see if their timeline was still on cue and it is. The woman I spoke to there said probably another two months until we start our dossier. Hopefully, we will be finishing our homestudy right about the time that AAI is ready for us to get started, which would be perfect timing b/c the first document of the dossier is immigration paperwork, and you file a copy of your completed home study with the immigration paperwork.

I will definitely be posting more about the great paperwork chase as we continue on this road.

So happy for you guys! I'm still amazed at the process it takes to adopt a child, but anyone can have a biological one with almost zero questions asked... anyway :) Very excited for you guys.

Congrats on starting the process. We are completely *finished* with paperwork at this point and just waiting for THE CALL. Praying for you as you journey toward your new little one!
