Pausing and Elephant Eating

Haven't posted in a week ... partly because I really just wanted to pause and let the faith promises and exhortations to persevere that I posted last week really sink in.

There's not much to report at the moment. We're in the same Christmas season hub-bub in which everyone finds themselves this time of year, what with the shopping, decorating, baking, parties, etc. We did get our application for a Shaohannah's Hope grant off last week and that was a great relief to put in the mail. I am not expecting to receive a grant from them because they receive HUNDREDS of applications each month, but I could not overlook them either. The Lord knows.

We still have our dossier packet sitting neatly on my desk in the bedroom. I haven't done a thing working toward it yet. I'm not sure why. I've picked it up to look through the info several times and feel this incredible urge to set everything else aside and do nothing more until this child is home, but it's also a little overwhelming, so I set it back down again and then five days of life go flying by me at an alarming rate of speed.

So ... my goal this week is to simply complete one piece of the dossier. After all, I recently heard another friend/adoptive parent say: "The easiest way to eat an elephant is one bit at a time!"

Praying for you as you walk through what will hopefully be the hardest part of your adoption journey. GOD does know the timing, the finances, and all the rest. He *will* be faithful to you!

A week ago, I looked up the Greek for the word "worry" in a Biblical passage that stood out to me. Did you know that when in Matthew 6, when Jesus is telling us not to "worry" the Greek actually means "to be divided against oneself." This was so powerful to me in terms of our adoption difficulties. Basically, God used this to say to me, "See, your spirit knows that I have this under control. Don't be divided against yourself by trying to take back from me what you've already handed over."

Hope this is helpful to you in some way. I think this is the longest comment I've ever left on anyone's blog! :-)
